Caveman is a wild and wacky 'Digimon Vs Humans' arcade-style platform game where you play the role of a slingshot-wielding caveman who has to rescue his girlfriend from a horde of time-travelling, dinosaur-like Digimon characters! Hundreds of these nasty creatures have amazingly fallen through a space-time warp – sending them all the way back to the caveman era (for those unfamiliar with the popular game series, Digimon are digital monsters of various forms living in a parallel universe that originated from Earth's various communication networks). Unfortunately for you in the caveman era, these troublesome monsters aren’t friendly – and you have to defeat them using a simple but devastating mix of platform jumping skills, sling shot shooting, and good, old-fashioned rock smashing!
This fun and eccentric caveman battle adventure is reminiscent of classic arcade platform games in that you have to leap from ledge to ledge and defeat bad guys on a noble quest to save a Damsel in distress! Quick reactions, accurate shooting skills, and fast fingerwork are all important abilities here, with the lumbering Digimon becoming more dangerous and numerous as you progress. Ok Slingshot Hero, it’s time to show these Digimon just how determined a primitive human can be!
How to Play: In each increasingly challenging level, you have to scale to the top of a large structure filled with jump-able ledges and bad guys. Each level has five or more ‘Stages’. In each Stage, you have to defeat all of the Digimon in the area before you can progress higher. Your character's girlfriend is located at the very top of the level where you have to defeat a large ‘Boss’ character before she can be freed and you can progress to the next level. Use the Arrow Keys on your computer keyboard to maneuver your Caveman. Up Arrow = Jump; Down Arrow = Jump down a ledge; Left & Right Arrows = Change direction.
Hit Spacebar to fire unlimited rocks from your sling shot weapon in order to eliminate one of the prowling Digimon bad guys. Each time one of your rocks hits a Digimon, they become enveloped in a boulder-like shell. Once a bad guy has been totally covered (usually around 5 hits from the sling shot), you are left with a large, round boulder. Press Spacebar again when next to this boulder to send it flying across the game screen, where it smashes, and the bad guy is no more! You have to eliminate all Digimon in this way in order to progress through the level. The rolling boulder can also be used as a weapon to take out other bad guys, so try and push it in their direction. Collect the different types of colorful Power-ups that emerge from the smashed boulders to increase your score, and earn extra lives and time.
Keep an eye on your Health Bar in the top left corner of the game screen. Each time you come into contact with an Digimon creature that hasn’t been already hit by your sling shot, you lose a quantity of Health. Once your Health Bar runs out, it’s game over, and you have to start all over again at the very bottom of the level. Don’t hang around either - each level is timed, and the ticking clock is displayed at the top of the game screen. However, you should have more than enough time to complete the level. It’s the Digimon that cause you the most problems!
